Dear Parent / Guardian,

RE: Drop-off and Collection Routines

The BoM and the School Leadership Team have been working to ensure a safe return to school for all pupils and staff in two weeks time.   We have now finalised our plans for drop-off and collection of the children every day.

St. Thomas the Apostle NS appreciates your support as we try to safely reopen the school building. We request you not to come onto the school grounds or into the school building unless it is essential. Working together we hope to be able to progress the reopening in as safe a manner as possible for all.

We would ask all parents to familiarise themselves with the following drop-off and collection routines for the safe delivery and collection of pupils from school.  Please be patient as we endeavour to embed these necessary precautionary and protective practices at the beginning of the school year.

It is imperative that

  • adults do not come within 2m of each other
  • parents do not try to have meetings with members of staff in the playground at drop-off and collection times – meetings between parents and teachers can only take place by prior arrangement.(This may have to be more restrictive depending on guidance – it is quite possible that the recommendation will be for remote meetings/telephonic communications.)
  • all parents adhere to the drop-off and collection plans as outlined below

Drop-off Plan

School arrival time from 9:10am – 9:20am.

Ms Molony and Ms O’ Donnell’s classes will enter the school through the fire exit door at the back of the school (entrance beside the staff room).

Ms. Morrissey’s class will enter the school through the door beside her classroom (staff entrance).

Ms Millers class will enter the school through the fire exit door in the computer room.

Ms Ryan and Ms O’ Shea’s classes will enter the school through the main entrance door.

On the first morning of school there will be school personnel in the yard to direct the pupils.

Collection Plan

Home times have been staggered to ensure that different class bubbles do not mix.

Junior and Senior Infants

Week 1:

Junior Infants will exit the school at 12:20pm.

Senior Infants will exit the school at 12:25pm

From Week 2:

Junior Infants will exit the school at 2:00pm

Senior Infants will exit the school at 2:05pm

First to Sixth Class

Ms. Molony’s class will exit the school at 2:55pm.

Ms. Millers class will exit the school at 2:58pm.

Ms. Morrissey’s class will exit the school at 3:00pm.

Ms. O’Donnell’s class will exit the school at 3:03pm.

Ms. O’ Shea’s class will exit the school at 3:05pm.

Please ensure that you are ready to pick up your children at the assigned times.

Pupils travelling by bus will be accommodated.

We understand that some families have pupils in several classes. However, adherence to the above is essential to ensure class bubbles are kept separate.

To ensure class bubbles are kept separate break times will be staggered.

le meas,

Órla O Dwyer visits the school

We were delighted to welcome Órla O Dwyer to the school to tell us all about her experience playing Australian Rules Football in Brisbane. She brought her AFLW medal which she won with the Brisbane Lions earlier this year. She spoke to the children about her time in Rosegreen school and the importance of working hard in the classroom. We wish her all the best as she returns to Australia to play for another two years.
